Guillotine Damper are most commonly specified when isolation is the primary function of the damper. Guillotine dampers are best-suited for isolation applications where low leakage and pressure drop are important Guillotine dampers and blanking plates can be used in any application where a positive isolation is required for routine maintenance and entry to a duct behind a media source. Guillotines are classified in two styles: Low Leak and Zero Leak. Gas tightness requirements of up to 99.98% are routinely met and Zero gas leakage is guaranteed when air sealing is used. Both styles are ideal for a high degree of isolation while providing low pressure drop when the dampers are in the open position. The basic mechanical elements of the guillotine damper are a blade, a peripheral-seal system to prevent gas leakage at all stages of blade movement, support members for the blade, and a drive to move the blade steadily and continuously from open to closed and back again.
